2015 Year End Review: Farm

December 31, 2015

31 Dec

I started writing this yesterday, and well today we end 2015 on a very low note. We laid to rest our all time favorite cow today; Abiqua Acres Prestige Jesusita. I don’t really have more words than that right now, she definitely deserves a proper tribute. I’m just glad the sun is shining today, as […]

A Good Day

November 10, 2015

10 Nov

Sometimes, every once in a blue moon a perfectly ordinary day, is a good day. Nothing spectacular happened, nothing that was earth shattering good news, it just was. And in that just being, there was total peace and happiness for me. Add in a gorgeous sunset to end a  beautiful Fall day in Oregon and […]

Happy Cow Appreciation Day

July 16, 2015

16 Jul

There had been some discussion on exactly which day was cow appreciation day. The same talk was still circulating this year, so it’s time we set the record straight. Guess what? It’s EVERYDAY! That’s right, every day we appreciate and care for our hard working Ladies that produce nutritious milk. Without milk there would be […]

Lessons Taught by Cows

June 29, 2015

29 Jun

I struggled to pick a topic to write for this guest blog post. There are so many different directions I could go, being a wife, mother and dairy farmer. A friend asked me, “What do you want people to know about dairy farming?” I want people to know that while dairy farming is a business, […]

Hypothetical Kids

June 22, 2015

22 Jun

When Kris and I were deciding to buy the farm, we didn’t have any kids yet, but we did have a list of reasons why we wanted to raise our hypothetical kids on a farm. We were both raised on dairy farms, and we wanted that same kind of upbringing for our kids. We wanted […]

Another small group of heifer calves to register that are looking for their names. Must be the year of the bulls, and out of the ordinary we have one bull for you to name this round. Reminder that the first letter must match the mother’s names below. For the bull first letter much match and preferably end in Man. For example this family has already had a Lawman and other bull names over the years include - Mountianman, Fireman, Jaeger, VIP, Sergeant, Verdict, Monument, Sputnik. So give me your best for: SplurgeLocoGinaLoretta (needs a name beginning with G)LuluMae - Bull ... See MoreSee Less
