I was at the First Thanksgiving

November 23, 2017

23 Nov

I’ve always felt a special connection to Thanksgiving. There is just something so special about devoting time to being Thankful for all that we have in our life. The preparation of a big meal, done lovingly by family members. A warm house with the noise of young cousins. The start of a magical holiday season, […]

Finding Happiness Through Loss

November 1, 2017

1 Nov

This year has been tough. And as I dressed in black for the third time this year this past weekend, I couldn’t help but feel this year has been unfair. Suicide, cancer, car accident, three funerals that shouldn’t have happened continue to break my heart into a million pieces. I thought it couldn’t break anymore […]

A Good Day

November 10, 2015

10 Nov

Sometimes, every once in a blue moon a perfectly ordinary day, is a good day. Nothing spectacular happened, nothing that was earth shattering good news, it just was. And in that just being, there was total peace and happiness for me. Add in a gorgeous sunset to end a  beautiful Fall day in Oregon and […]

Through the Daily Grind: The Passage of Time

September 17, 2014

17 Sep

I have a theme. Where did the time go. How is it June, July, August, September already. Each day clouded by an immeasurable number of diaper changes and tasks for every living being in my vicinity except for myself, I am always amazed as the hours seem to slowly creep by in the day. And […]

In the middle of our busiest time of year; show season, harvest, the biggest calving month we’ve had in years, I got a crazy idea to reexamine my blog and the direction I want it to take. I love this space, it feels like home, but I am ready to take it to the next […]

As the Pasture Gate Closes

November 29, 2013

29 Nov

We’ve come to that point in the year where the Oregon weather has made the ground wet enough that it’s time for the Ladies to come off the pastures and into the barns for winter. We rotationally graze our herd for as many months out of the year as the weather allows. But once the […]

Another small group of heifer calves to register that are looking for their names. Must be the year of the bulls, and out of the ordinary we have one bull for you to name this round. Reminder that the first letter must match the mother’s names below. For the bull first letter much match and preferably end in Man. For example this family has already had a Lawman and other bull names over the years include - Mountianman, Fireman, Jaeger, VIP, Sergeant, Verdict, Monument, Sputnik. So give me your best for: SplurgeLocoGinaLoretta (needs a name beginning with G)LuluMae - Bull ... See MoreSee Less
