Every Farmer’s Vow

September 14, 2017

14 Sep

Today I cried more then a few tears over a cow. It won’t be the first time I cried over a cow, nor will it be the last. Every farmer makes a vow, so to speak, to the creatures entrusted into their care. It is our vow, that for the time our Ladies are with […]

I had never done any television work, but the whole process was fun and couldn’t have come at a better time after finishing media training with the […]

Hey Wendy’s Thank You

February 3, 2016

3 Feb

Hey Wendy’s Thank You! You heard that right, I’m sending a thank you out to Wendy’s, the chain restaurant. In a time when it doesn’t seem like a day goes by where there’s not some chain falling to pressure from hype it’s refreshing to see Wendy’s embracing the facts and not the fear! This week […]

Classification – Jan 2016

January 19, 2016

19 Jan

Last week we classified our herd for the American Guernsey Association. It’s an important and long day looking at every cow in our herd. Classification scores are an objective collection of information on the type characteristics that are important to the success of a dairy cow. Type, is the “beauty” side of the cow, what […]

2015 Year End Review: Farm

December 31, 2015

31 Dec

I started writing this yesterday, and well today we end 2015 on a very low note. We laid to rest our all time favorite cow today; Abiqua Acres Prestige Jesusita. I don’t really have more words than that right now, she definitely deserves a proper tribute. I’m just glad the sun is shining today, as […]

I’ve mentioned before that our farm is in the process of transitioning to robotics. For the past year we have been taking the time to plan and really dig into all the numerous decisions that go along with making this change. Building a new facility requires a lot of thought and we are glad we […]

Another small group of heifer calves to register that are looking for their names. Must be the year of the bulls, and out of the ordinary we have one bull for you to name this round. Reminder that the first letter must match the mother’s names below. For the bull first letter much match and preferably end in Man. For example this family has already had a Lawman and other bull names over the years include - Mountianman, Fireman, Jaeger, VIP, Sergeant, Verdict, Monument, Sputnik. So give me your best for: SplurgeLocoGinaLoretta (needs a name beginning with G)LuluMae - Bull ... See MoreSee Less
