Proof that house cleaning is Bad!

October 11, 2013

11 Oct

Most people Spring clean their homes……I Fall clean my home! Sad to admit, but it’s just the lifestyle we live: from about June to September, we don’t really live in our house. It’s mainly a dumping ground for the 5 seconds your inside in between jobs outside. Ok we also shower, sleep and eat there […]

Blah!

July 12, 2013

12 Jul

Who gets sick in the summer time? Our whole family apparently! And Yuck, being sick in the summer time is the worst. This wasn’t any easy bug either! So we’ve been spending the last week with a box of Kleenexes handy for all of us! Irritating! It’s so much easier to be sick when it’s […]

This has to Stop, Now! Band together Women!

June 22, 2013

22 Jun

I’m not a big celebrity follower. But when this story popped up on my Facebook feed, I couldn’t help but be intrigued! I didn’t follow Kate Middleton’s journey to becoming a Princess, didn’t even watch the wedding, although they picked a great day, my birthday! 😉 But really isn’t that every little girls thought at […]

When S#*T Happens…..You can’t make this stuff up!

June 20, 2013

I enjoy a good fictional book, honestly I LOVE to read, kind of book worm. There’s just something about disappearing into a different world for a little while. I recently  started reading the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris, they are great fun and just and easy read. (And no I haven’t started watching Trueblood, […]

Morning Sickness in Cows?

May 24, 2013

24 May

Compelling new observations prove that cows may suffer some resemblance of the morning sickness that pregnant women experience……….. Ok pretty much joking about all this, but there is a story behind it! Meet Beatrice. She’s our Boss Cow or Lead Cow of the herd, pretty much meaning she’s in charge of all the Ladies. She […]

Up Yours!

May 14, 2013

Spring Cleaning

April 14, 2013

14 Apr

I hate cleaning, no really I completely loathe cleaning my home! There’s literally a million other things I would rather do and usually do end up doing, so my house is always in some sort of dissarray. Which is ok with me, it’s just how I am. And we spend most of our time outside […]

Always the real reel here. Feels hard to compete w Always the real reel here. Feels hard to compete with ai when the real reel is often not picture perfect. But that’s life with all its messy bits and pieces. So it will always be my real words here and the Ladies of this messy beautiful life.
This right here, the beautiful things. That’s why This right here, the beautiful things. That’s why we’ve fought so hard to hold onto this way of life. I truly wish it didn’t have to be so hard. Farmers aren’t in this way of life to get rich, but we certainly hate struggling even to make ends come close to meeting for our families. Not going to lie I’ve held onto to some guilt that we had a way out and can see a future for our farm again. So many wonderful farm families don’t have that choice. Breathing in the beautiful, letting go of the past and looking forward to bringing you more of our farm story in this crazy world of social media.
I’ve been quiet in this space. Mostly cause I coul I’ve been quiet in this space. Mostly cause I couldn’t find the words to describe the literal disaster strong holding dairy farm families in the Pacific Northwest. It’s gut wrenchingly heartbreaking. We went through the tough conversations of how we survive as a dairy farm. Because this right here, these generations of dedication to a breed and land. We couldn’t let go of. Dairy farming is in my blood, heart and soul and there were no answers of what else to do. So we made a choice and are now 10 months into being a certified organic farm and selling our milk to @organicvalley As a small family farm we finally feel like our farm has a chance at real future again.
When you’ve had the warmest January ever on record When you’ve had the warmest January ever on record and the grass starts growing…you turn the milk cows out to pasture! Looking like this dry spell should hold and they’ll get to enjoy some days on grass in the sunshine. Now we just wait to see if Winter ever does decide to show up!
